FAQ

The wrinkles disappear few days after the procedure and may reappear, in most of the times less obvious by reference to the initial moment, in 6 month term, or even 1 year after undergoing the procedure.

The botulinum toxin is more and more used also for other facial areas, even at the neck level, for the improving the muscles contractility in these areas and for the look improvement.

Injecting small boluses of botulinum toxin is an extremely valuable technique for treating the hyperhydrosis (the excessive sweat) at the level of the underarm, of the palm or of the feet soles, by blocking the sweat and by correcting this extremely unpleasant problem.

Its injection produces a muscular relaxation, working at the muscles level by blocking the release of the chemical mediator i.e. acetylcholine from the nerve endings.

The muscles relaxation is temporary, and coming back to the initial state is gradual.

The effect is visible early, 3-4 days after the injection, and is maximal to 1-2 weeks.

The time interval between shots depends on each patient.

Depending on the individual response, it should not be less than 16 weeks, in average being of approximately 6 months. In the case of underarm hyperhydrosis, the toxin may inhibit, temporarily, the secretion of the sweat glands.

The clinical studies have demonstrated an optimal effect for 4-7.5 months in the case of underarm hyperhydrosis, and for approximately 30% of the patients the effect will still hold.

In the dermatologic practice, for the aesthetic use, for reducing the wrinkles, no important side effects have been recorded.

The technique is worldwide used, for many years now, with sustained research and debates within symposiums, being extremely valuable, due to its efficacy, for the antiaging/antiwrinkle treatments.

The side effects of the botulinum toxin injecting procedures are minimal, most of them limiting to the injecting area, such as burn/pain, swelling, erythema, sensibility, bleeding or pruritus.

Very rarely, there may appear cephalalgias (headaches), anxiety, facial asymmetries, uneven wrinkle reduction, immediate hypersensitivity reactions (rush, edema, anaphylaxis), blepharoptosis, photophobia etc.

The latter mentioned are extremely rare, according to the present clinical trials.

Most often, it targets excessive expression wrinkles, visible when a person smiles, laughs or wonders. These wrinkles tend to accentuate significantly in dynamics and will be much less noticeable when the face is relaxed.

The procedure is generally aimed at people aged between 25 and 65. Over this age, wrinkles become static and, in most cases, will not be influenced by the treatment. There is a need for a medical exam for each patient before the procedure to determine whether it suits each patient.

A small amount of the substance will be injected into the targeted areas with a very small needle, the discomfort being minimal. Most patients compare the sensation to that of a slight sting. No prior anesthesia of the area is required, and daily activities can be resumed immediately after the procedure.

For these treatments we use needles of very small size, the discomfort being almost non-existent. There may be a slight feeling of pressure or prick, but it disappears very quickly.

In extremely rare cases local pain of moderate intensity, inflammation, redness and / or mild bleeding may occur.

Effects are visible after a period of 3-8 days, and generally last between 3 and 5 months. Often, after a few sessions, the results will last for a longer period.

A single treatment session is enough to relax the face and remove unsightly wrinkles. For long-term results, regular sessions are recommended at regular intervals, every 5-6 months.

When the effects begin to disappear, the wrinkles treated will begin to be visible again, but in most cases,  they will not be as deep and visible as before the procedure. After 3-4 treatment sessions, the results begin to persist over a longer period.

There is no recovery period, most patients resuming their daily activities immediately after the procedure. However, it is advisable to avoid intense physical effort and massage of the area for 1-2 days.

Although wrinkle results will be visible, BOTOX treatment will not radically change the face’s expressiveness. The muscles will be relaxed to minimize the appearance of unaesthetic wrinkles, but the expressiveness will remain.

Surely! Both treatments provide an improved look, while preserving the natural appearance of the face. The facial expression will be preserved. Surgical procedures involve removing excess skin, leaving an unnatural aspect, while both fillers and BOTOX will create a general younger look without an artificial aspect.

BOTOX relaxes the facial muscles in the desired areas to get rid of the unsightly appearance of the wrinkles. By means of fillers the targeted wrinkles will fill up, restoring the volume. Briefly, BOTOX is a corrective and preventive measure of wrinkles and unwanted lines on the face, and fillers are used where it is necessary to restore the lost volume.

Considering all the options in facial aesthetics, the procedure is financially accessible. Prior to any procedure, during a medical exam, treatment options can be changed according to your budget.

In the case of an active skin infection, your doctor will advise you to delay the procedure. It is also not indicated for patients with known hypersensitivity to the substance used and those with certain neuromuscular disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, myasthenia gravis or Lamber-Eaton syndrome.

Microneedling – a solution for stretch marks, acne and cellulite

microneedlingul - skinmed

Microneedling is form of mesotherapy that is carried out with the help of a specialized device, instead of the traditional syringe. This is a device that uses a system composed of 11 needles, easy to remove, hygienic and very economical.

The needles have a variable penetration length of 0.25-2.5 mm, with a triggering speed of 84 cycles per second, inducing the occurrence of 935 micro channels per second.

These are the safest, most sterile, quickest and most efficient devices of transdermal penetration on the market, which contributes to the skin permeability for the used substances, but, also, they can cause a rapidly reversing traumatic injury, to which the epithelia response is epithelizasion / reshaping.

Locally, at the skin level, a cocktail of substances, previously premixed by the physician, is injected to be absorbed and to produce the desired clinical effect.

The MICROCHANNELS play to major roles in dermatology:

Chemical peeling, a facial dermatologic treatment

The chemical peeling represents a dermal cosmetic procedure consisting in inducing an accelerate skin regeneration in a controlled manner. This is carried out by applying exfoliating chemical agents working at the level of various skin layers.

The chemical peeling action consists in removing the external layers of the tegument and in stimulating the collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan production, thus intensifying its psychological and mechanical features.

The objectives of the chemical peeling:

peeling-ul chimic - skinmed

Why is it important that the chemical peeling to be carried out in a medical facility and not in a beauty salon?

Because the medical staff (physicians and nurses) can adapt the peeling composition and the treatment duration depending on your needs, they can immediately observe any side-effects and they can remedy it.

Depending on the depth of the chemical peelings they can be divided in 4 categories:

1.

Very superficial (the superficial corneum stratum): it makes even the skin nuance, adding luminosity;

2.

Superficial (epidermis up to the bazal layer): it stimulates the epidermis growth by removing the stratum corneum; it causes the skin desquamation in a manner similar to the one occurring after an intense sunbath. It works on the epidermis and it can reach the limit between the epidermis and dermis; it determines skin rejuvenation.

3.

Average (papillary dermis): it affects the papillary dermis, determining a significant desquamation by inducing a superficial dermal inflammation.

It completely removes the epidermis, which afterwards renews itself up to a complete regeneration. It penetrates the papillary dermis up to the superior part of the reticular dermis; it “restores” the collagen; basically, it affects the social life only for 2-3 days, when the home rest is recommended.

It is efficient for wrinkles correction, acne, uneven pigmentation (at the epidermis and superior dermis level).

4.

Deep (reticular dermis): deep chemical peeling determining an inflammatory reaction at the level of the reticular dermis, thus inducing the rehabilitation of the collagen and elastin fibers.
peeling-ul chimic - skinmed

The peeling substances are in a large variety and are adapted to the problems to be corrected, such as mandelic acid for hyperpigmentation correction, salicylic acid for its anti-seborrheic/anti-acne effect, lactic acid for the sensitive skin, glycolic acid and tricloracetic acid with multiple indications in the process of skin rehabilitation.

Combined solutions have been found for results optimization. This is a highly valuable procedure, both therapeutically, and aesthetically, as an integrant part of antiaging therapies.

FAQ

Chemical peeling is an aesthetic dermatology procedure used to improve the appearance of the skin both on the face and on the area of the neck and hands. Substances are applied on the skin, causing a controlled injury that results in skin peeling and scaling. The regenerated skin is finer, with aesthetically improved appearance.

 There are three types

  • Superficial – light acids are used in low concentrations, which only affect the superficial layer of the skin. It is used for hyperpigmentation and for “refreshing” the skin (more hydrated, lighter)
  • Medium – more concentrated acids are used, which affect several layers of skin. It is used for actinic keratoses, fine wrinkles, photo aging, and scars.
  • Profound – acids in high concentrations are used, penetrating the dermis. It is used in the treatment of scars, but due to the long recovery period and the risk of side effects it is rarely used.

They are used in the treatment of: wrinkles and fine lines, photoaging, non-uniform pigmentation of the face (melasma, ephelides), post acne/post pox scars.

Usually 4 to 6 sessions are required for optimal results; during the initial medical exam with the dermatologist, he/she will determine the treatment protocol according to the problem being treated and its severity.

The session takes 30 minutes. Before peeling, careful cleaning and degreasing with alcohol or acetone solutions is required. The chemical peeling is applied. Depending on the agent used and the desired results, the exposure time varies. Until the peeling is neutralized, patients may experience a burning or a slight stinging sensation, but this is normal and is not a complication of the procedure. At the end, an emollient, healing cream is applied.

Superficial-depth peelings have a healing period of 1-5 days, usually do not require medical leave. The skin is usually red and descuamates and requires proper hydration, photoprotection, and makeup can be used after 48 hours.

Medium-depth peelings require between 7-14 days of healing, usually a few medical leave days are needed. The skin is very red, swollen. It requires a very careful care regime; makeup is used after 5-7 days.

Your dermatologist will recommend you to use a combination of healing creams and photoprotection.

Injectable mesotherapy –accessible prices for your treatment and beauty

Injectable mesotherapy is a method aiming to obtain a face rejuvenation effect with the preservation of the natural aesthetic features of the patients. It will influence strictly the skin quality, without causing any volumetry and expressiveness changes at the face level.
Practically, the solution is recommended to the patients that want to undergo rejuvenation procedures, or preventive procedures, without using substances such as hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin.
mezoterapia injectabila - skinmed

How does mesotherapy work?

It is a needle technique, non-invasive and not painful, carried out manually (with a syringe with a very thin needle) or instrumentally (by using specially designed medical devices – pen or gun).

The local anesthesia is not mandatory, the procedure being carried out depending on the patient’s tolerance to pain.

This presupposes the insertion at the mesodermal level, by microinjections, of a cocktail of substances, established by the physician depending on the needs and specifics of the patient, containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, hyaluronic acid, oligoelements etc.

The active substances are natural ingredients of the body tissues essential for the function of the same and actively participating to the cells metabolism, inducing the activation of metabolic means:

Mesotherapy is also used as a treatment in for dermatologic/aesthetic conditions such as: alopecia (hair loss), cellulite/localized adiposities (lipoma), stretch marks, dark circles around the eyes, post acne scars or regenerative therapy of the skin at the face, cleavage or palms level.

For each of these problems the attending physician drafts a therapeutic protocol, describing the used substances, the total number of the sessions and the sessions intervals (for example when it comes to cellulite there are necessary 7-10 session every 7-10 days, for epidermal regeneration 3-5 sessions every 2- 4 weeks). It is very important for the patient to return for maintenance sessions every 6 months -1 year.

mezoterapia injectabila - skinmed
By mesotherapy the excesive skin laxity can be corrected, due to the effects of important reshaping and the inducing/acceleration of the natural process of supporting fibers synthesis, thus the skin recovering its elasticity, firmness and tonus, with a true LIFTING effect.

The risks are minimal, and the adverse effects are low. Small bruises or haematomas may occur in the laxity areas, as well as redness, local pain, burn sensation, pruritus, or a local minor allergic reaction.

FAQ

Mesotherapy is a medical procedure that involves injecting various substances (pharmaceuticals, vitamins, minerals, natural or homeopathic extracts) into the skin. These substances are used to obtain various results depending on the problem we want treated (melting of fat cells, improving circulation, reducing fibrosis, stimulating collagen synthesis and elastin, promoting hair regeneration).

It has multiple applications: reduction of fat deposits, cellulite, stretch marks, hair loss, acne, scarring and rejuvenation (wrinkles, laxity, and hyperpigmentation).

Usually 4 to 6 sessions are required for optimal results; during the initial consultation with the dermatologist, it will determine the treatment protocol according to the problem being treated and its severity.

The results are seen after the first session, 2-4 weeks after starting treatment and will improve after each session.

After the initial protocol with successive meetings, it is necessary to return for maintenance sessions for preserving the results. The frequency of maintenance sessions will be determined by the dermatologist, usually 1 session every 4-6 months.

Before you start your skin is cleaned with an antiseptic solution and  an anesthetic cream is applied for 20-30 minutes. The treatment consists of injecting with fine needles small amounts of mesotherapy solutions. The procedure takes 20-30 minutes.

The skin is usually red, and small swelling and bruising may occur due to the injection that disappears after 2-3 days.

Dermapen 4 – cel mai avansat tratament microneedling pentru hiperpigmentare, cicatrici și vergeturi

dermapen 4 - skinmed clinic bucuresti

Vampire therapy (P.R.P.) – infiltrations for rejuvenation and alopecia

The search for rejuvenation methods is a continuous concern of the physicians and researchers worldwide. However, one of the most efficient therapies, to this end, is “right under our nose”.

Precisely, right in our own blood and that is why the method became known internationally as “Vampire Therapy”.

Used by the Hollywood stars for turning back the time, the treatment has been lately available in Romania, too.

It is extremely useful, as it activates the stem cells, it stimulates the fibroblasts with the collagen and elastin production, it stimulates the angiogenesis and accelerates the tissue regeneration process.

Thus, it is recommended for facial rejuvenation, skin wrinkles reduction, decrease of skin laxity, treatment of dilated pores and post-acne scars, or stretch marks.

The Vampire Therapy (P.R.P.) represents a medical rejuvenation procedure (of the skin) by restoring its structure.

The method consists in taking (venous) blood from the patient and the processing of the same with the help of a lab spinner.

Thus, the red cells (erythrocytes) are separated from the plasma and, and practically, an autologous platelet-rich plasma is obtained.

These platelets are cells that contain growth and tissue repair factors, which area naturally released by the organism for healing the damaged tissue.

By the above-described method, we “artificially” make a concentrate by using a special test tube, containing a separating layer of gel, allowing only for the plasma with platelets to remain available and to be extracted by using a syringe.

terapia vampir dermatoestetica - skinmed

The growth factors represent the physiological tank of the body  that is the base of the tissues repairing processes.

The plasma thus obtained is re-injected in the selected areas, under the form of micro bolus, intraepidermal/intradermal, approximately 1 cm away of the other, fully covering the affected area.

The Vampire Therapy (PRP) is a safe and simple one, as there is no risk of allergic reactions or viral/bacterial infection as it uses the patient's own blood. The pain is minimal, the procedure being carried out after local anesthesia and requiring a number of serial sessions, established during the pre-therapy meeting. The maximum effect is obtained in 2-3 months and maintains for 1-2 years.

It is a new and expending procedure, new therapeutic indications being under search for exploiting this highly valuable personal biological material for the tissue recovery and regeneration.

FAQ

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) or Platelet Thrombocyte Enhanced Plasma Therapy, also called Vampire Therapy, is an injectable treatment that is based on the patient’s blood. Platelets play a vital role in the tissue repair and growth process of newly formed cells. Thus, PRP stimulates collagen secretion, regenerates skin tissue, helping to rejuvenate cells. Also, growth hormones are released into the tissue, which amplifies the healing and regeneration process.

The blood of the patient is the base of the plasma therapy, it is harvested before the procedure with a syringe, under the most secure conditions. The blood thus harvested is introduced into a centrifuge which will separate its components. The resulting plasma, enriched with platelets, will then be reinjected, either by mesotherapy or by microneedling, into the patient’s skin.

On average, a treatment session lasts between one and two hours, depending on the type of PRP administration (mesotherapy or microneedling). This includes both the 30 minutes required to harvest and centrifuge the PRP and the time to apply topical anesthesia as a cream / spray.

Generally, the results appear on average 2 months after initiation of the treatment; first, the patient will notice the hair loss stops and subsequent regeneration of the hair. After a series of 5-6 treatment sessions, maintenance sessions will generally be required to maintain long-term outcomes, generally 1 or 2 per year.

The recovery period is practically non-existent. Immediately after treatment, there will be redness of the treated area, but this usually takes less than 24 hours, in average 2-3 hours.

In rare cases, it may occur immediately after the procedure a low intensity edema of the skin, but it will soon vanish.

Depending on the pathology underlying the hair loss, your dermatologist will determine how many treatment sessions you will need. In general, a series of 5-6 treatment sessions are recommended at 3-4 week intervals.

The PRP used for cosmetic purposes is a safe procedure, with a very small number of contraindications for performing the procedure. The most common undesirable reactions are redness and mild to moderate edema of the treated area, which persist for a very short period of time.

During the medical exam, your doctor will determine if this procedure is indicated and safe for you. This is not addressed to pregnant women and patients with certain associated health problems.

Corection of dark eye circles with hyaluronic acid, P.R.P or mesotherapy

cearcanele - skinmed
The dark circles under the eyes represent an aesthetic problem for both women and men. Far from being the expression of a serious medical problem, in most of the cases they have an easy to solve cause: the blood in the capillary veins at the eye level is no longer flowing that quickly and as the vein blood is darker, it darkens the relevant area.

We are not talking about the dark circles that already include “folds” of extra skin. They require surgical treatment. But for those that only darken the area there are highly efficient non-surgical therapies!

We are talking about injecting a pellicle of hyaluronic acid that will interpose between the vascular structure and the skin, or about the improvement of the skin by mesotherapy procedures.

The latter mentioned can correct the excesive skin laxity, thanks to the remodeling major effects and to the stimulation/acceleration of the natural process of supporting fibers synthesis.

Thus, the skin re-becomes elastic, firm and tonified.

Mesotherapy means introducing, by microinjections, of a cocktail of substances, established by the physician depending on the needs and specifics of the patient, containing vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, hyaluronic acid, oligoelements, etc.

On the other hand, the injection of hyaluronic acid for correcting the dark circles must be carried out by physicians with a wide experience in this field, as we are talking about a delicate procedure that requires a lot of attention.

For a better correction, on the long run, this is associated with platelet-rich plasma infiltration (P.R.P., plasmolifting) of the affected area.

This will result in the regeneration of the skin tissue, affected in time by the poor oxygenation.

corectie cearcane acid hialuronic - skinmed
The clinical situation of hyperpigmentation of the lower eyelid area is also described, as it is also defined by the same term, requiring the adapting of the mesotherapy substances for erasing /reducing this pigmentation, frequently constitutional.

Mesotherapy presents minimal risks, and the side effects are low;

Small bruises or haematoma can occur in the laxity areas, or redness, local pain, burn sensation, pruritus, or a local minor allergic reaction.

Mesotherapy is an extremely important procedure during the antiaging treatments by correcting the unbalances related to this natural process, such as dehydration, lack of firmness, of elasticity and change in the skin quality.

corectie cearcane acid hialuronic - skinmed
Mesotherapy can be carried out with the help of an extremely thin needle, or instrumentally, with adapted devices at one end with a needles system, by which the substances are introduced and a minimal trauma with local epitelializing /restructuring effect.

Juvederm Volite – revolutionary rejuvenation treatment with hyaluronic acid

Juvederm Volite is the new long-term hydrating hyaluronic acid, from the Vycross technology developed by Allergan company, one of the largest pharma producers in the world.

A single procedure corrects the fine lines and wrinkles, deeply hydrates the skin, maintaining its natural elasticity for 9 months.

This new product has been especially created for a deep skin hydration, making it elastic and soft.

The product is meant for the patients that would like to have a visible improved skin quality on the face, neck, cleavage and hands.

As a result of Vycross technology, the treatment with Juvederm Volite has a lifting effect.

The injected substance increases the density of the epidermal layers, deeply hydrating the skin, thus the immediate effect being a long-lasting effect of freshness and rejuvenation.

Juvederm Volite is the only product that acts for a 9 month interval after a single procedure, with immediate visible effect. Besides the skin moisturizing effect, it is essential to infill the fine lines and wrinkles by substance dissemination.

Thus, you will obtain that effect that makes the others say:

The naturalism is the attribute of Volite injections.

The Volite injection is carried out with a very thin needle, being from a new generation of medical devices, which guarantees the comfort during the procedure, but also reduces considerably the risk of hematoma occurrence.

The revolutionary effect of this hyaluronic acid consists in the fact that Juvederm formula contains lidocaine, insuring a high level of comfort during the procedure performance, as it offers an instant anesthesia of the area. The procedure is minimally invasive, the recovery period being very short.

If, for example, the hyaluronic acid can be found in countless skin moisturizing products, the substances contained by the Juvederm products are the only ones that help, in fact, to recover the hyaluronic acid from the epidermal layers, thus causing the skin to regain its natural elasticity, firmness and tonus.

A single Juvederm Volite shot is sufficient for a visibly younger and fresher skin for up to 9 months.

FAQ

Juvederm Volite is part of the Allergan Juvederm range of injectable treatments, being an innovative treatment designed to improve the appearance of the skin for up to 9 months.

Volite is a gel-based Hyaluronic Acid, designed to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, and render hydration and skin elasticity, all in one treatment that lasts for a long time.

Volite can be used to treat the face, neck, décolleté area and even hands. It also contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to reduce the risk of discomfort during the procedure. At Skinmed Clinic, we use Juvederm Volite as  complementary to other Juvederm products but also on its own, as a treatment for both the improvement of the texture of the skin, the reduction of fine lines, and the rejuvenation of skin hydration, even in younger patients that just want an improved skin look.

Juvederm Volte is a new, innovative product with natural and long-lasting effects after a single session. It can be used alone or as a precursor to other Juvederm injections; it also helps to protect the skin against the effects of free radicals.

Juvederm Volite acts on several levels. The presence of the filler has a slight filling effect, and during the weeks following treatment, the skin will become brighter and finer, with fine lines improvement and pore reduction.

A beautiful, healthy skin has a strong impact on the everyday life of the patient, going beyond the limits of aesthetics and reflecting on well-being and increasing self-confidence.

Juvederm Volite is included into the category of dermal fillers, although it has a more important effect in improving the appearance of the skin than in restoring lost volume. Juvederm Volite belongs to the new range of facial treatments-Vycross, being an innovative treatment option that we are excited to offer to our patients.

The results will be visible after 1-2 weeks, patients benefiting from brighter, firmer, finer skin, and less fine lines and wrinkles.

As time passes, the skin becomes thinner, with the lowering the amount of hyaluronic acid naturally occurring at this level. Although it is part of the natural physiological process of aging, it can be slowed down, rebuilding skin quality and texture with Juvederm Volite.

By introducing direct hyaluronic acid to the skin, a significant increase in the hydration markers (AQP3 and GAG) has been demonstrated. When moisturizing creams alone are used, their effect is to create an artificial skin layer that can only temporarily hydrate its superficial layer, but it cannot penetrate the deep layers, providing major improvements. There are home care products that contain hyaluronic acid, but it is absorbed in very small amounts, and sometimes not at all, the benefits of using them being limited.

There is a degree of discomfort, but it is diminished by using very fine needles and applying a local anesthetic cream before the procedure.

Juvederm Volite acts as a booster in the skin, being injected more superficially than other fillers, with visible results in a short period of time, sometimes immediately after the injection, and which lasts for a long time.

Volite is an injectable treatment that improves texture and moisturizes the skin. It contains 12 mg / ml crosslinked hyaluronic acid and 0.3% lidocaine. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the skin; a hydrophilic substance, which plays a role in hydrating cells by absorbing water. The production of hyaluronic acid at the skin level begins to decrease at the age of 27, with the skin becoming dehydrated, losing its brightness, defining fine lines, superficial wrinkles. Volite is a treatment suitable for any type of skin, any patient who noticed a decrease in skin quality, people who have photo aging or women in perimenopause.

Volite is injected into the deep dermis, the lower layer of the skin; it stimulates fibroblasts, dermal cells that have the property of producing collagen and elastin. Thus, the effect is to improve the elasticity and firmness of the skin. Also, hyaluronic acid has the ability to attract water into cells, improving tissue hydration, which takes place in the weeks following injection.

Patients generally choose to have a treatment session, and they will return annually to maintain the results. Clinical trials have shown that after a single treatment session, 91% of the patients were satisfied with the results, 96% had a finer, firmer look at the cheekbones, and these results were visible after a period of 6 months. In case of a very dehydrated skin, either because of photo aging or because of hormonal changes, treatment can be repeated at a shorter time.

People with known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid or to lidocaine, pregnant or breastfeeding women, in the case of an active infection, less than a month after a laser rejuvenation procedure, people with a history of clotting disorders.

The product contains lidocaine, an anesthetic substance; an anesthetic cream will also be applied before injection, so the discomfort will be significantly reduced.

Because of multiple injections at the treatment area level, the skin may be red for 24-48 hours after the procedure. In some cases, small bruises, ecchymosis, especially in people who use anticoagulant medication, anti-inflammatory drugs, fish oil or turmeric supplements may occur at the injection site after 12-24 hours. These are small, disappear in 7-10 days and can easily be covered with makeup products.

Rarely, allergy to hyaluronic acid, or sometimes to anesthetic cream, may occur; there is also a minimal risk of infection due to multiple wounds, but it can be treated with antibiotics.

Therapies with hyaluronic acid for lips and wrinkles

Before injecting hyaluronic acid in lips, or cheekbones, or in the nasogenian folds, it would be useful to know a few details about it, exploring the myths surrounding it. Thus, it is said that the hyaluronic acid is “something unnatural”. False.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally present in the human body and in the skin (derma) in particular. Hyaluronic acid used in the injectable therapies is of non-animal origin, being obtained by a complex synthesis process.

It is microbiologically pure and is packed in syringes or in sterile vials. It has the consistency of a gel and it can be crosslinked or noncrosslinked, with or without anesthesia (lidocaine).

How long is the hyaluronic acid holding after being injected?

The viscoelastic gels of crosslinked hyaluronic acid are created for correcting the nasogenien folds, the fine lines, the facial line or the partial or full lip augmentation.

The effects are immediate and hold for 6 to 18-24 months depending on the factors such as: skin type, wrinkles visibility, injection area, injection quantity etc.

What can be corrected by using hyaluronic acid?

The facial volumetry with the rejuvenation of the facial oval is an important concern at this moment. When aging all the structures starting with the tegument and ending with the bone structure of the face suffer changes, descending to the lower region and creating the reversed triangle (with the lower base), resulting in the „dropped” look of the face.

By using the crosslinked and/or non crosslinked hyaluronic acid we can contribute to the remaking of the facial look in areas such as cheekbones, zigomatic lower area, mandibular area, menton.

Is injecting of hyaluronic acid painful?

It is a minimally invasive procedure, almost painless and is carried out after the topic application of anesthetics.

The effect is immediately visible, without prior precautions and durable in time between 6-12 months and two years.

There are rarely described any local reactions, where the injection has been taken, such as: erythema/redness, contusions or bruises, pain or slight pruritus, that go away within 24 hours and 8 days (in average 72 hours).

There can occur indurations, granuloma or nodules that last between 15 days and 3 months.

Cases of reversible coloration of the injecting area are extremely rare and very rare a necrosis can occur in cases of intravascular shot.

It is an extremely valuable procedure, well known today, still scientifically expending, with molecules updating, the results being shortly after visible and showing no unpleasant injection-associated incidents.

FAQ

Dermal fillers are substances used in facial aesthetic treatments that are injected into the skin. There are substances specifically designed to reduce wrinkles, to shape or to create volume. They are based on hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin, whose production decreases with aging.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural molecule found in almost all living organisms. It has the ability to attract and bind water, having a role in lubricating and absorbing mechanical shock in joints; it also has an important role in nutrient transport and in maintaining optimal hydration in the skin.

By increasing the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the skin, the fillers have the property of revitalizing, restoring the volume of the skin, alleviating fine lines and wrinkles. The fillers are injectable in the form of gel, hyaluronic acid of non-animal origin. The hyaluronic acid  has a very close structure to that normally found in the body, with a long-lasting effect without being permanent.

Dermal injections with fillers are an easy way to reduce wrinkles, improve skin texture for a younger look. The results are seen after a single treatment session and are maintained for a period of 6 to 18 months. The injecting fillers give a natural look that does not affect the expressiveness of the face.

At Skinmed Clinic we use top quality hyaluronic acid with numerous back safety studies that guarantee its safety and efficacy. As closely related molecules as the structure of hyaluronic acid present naturally in tissues, the risk of allergic reactions is minimized.

Fillers can be used to soften and fill fine lines and wrinkles, to create a fuller look for the lips, for contouring the face and restoring the volume.

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Wrinkles between eyebrows (glabella)
  • Lips (volume and contour)
  • Cheeks bones

Before

During the initial medical exam, the dermatologist will discuss with you about your expectations from this treatment, recommending the treatment best suited to you, depending on the particularities of each patient.

During the procedure

The filler will be injected into the skin using a fine needle. The treatment generally lasts between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the area treated and the amount of hyaluronic acid injected. The hyaluronic acid thus injected replenishes the volume, fills the lines and wrinkles, outlines the treated area, preserving the facial expressions unaltered.

After

Dermal fillers are biodegradable substances, which means they will normally disappear from the tissues. To ensure that the results are maintained, a second treatment session is recommended 6-12 months after the initial session. Moreover, the dermatologist will establish a schedule for a check up shortly after the procedure.

Immediately after treatment, local reactions such as redness, pruritus, small bruising, and minor pain in the area may occur. These are usually mild to moderate and disappear shortly after injection.

One of the advantages of dermal fillers is the maintaining of  the results over a long period of time; however, they are not permanent. Usually, a new treatment session is recommended at 8-12 months, depending on the particularities of each patient (age, lifestyle, type of skin, etc.).

Most people can benefit from this treatment to:

  • Reduce lines and wrinkles
  • Create lighter, fuller lips
  • Shape and redo the volume of face structures (cheekbones, chins)
  • Improve the texture and appearance of the skin (face, neck, neck or hands)

Fillers are not used in areas where there are active skin infections, inflammation or other skin conditions.

Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with autoimmune disorders or immunosuppressive therapy, or those predisposed to infection.

Generally, treatment with pain killers is not necessary. The procedure is performed after an anesthetic cream has been applied in advance to significantly reduce the discomfort. In the case of the lip, a sensitive area, fillers that use lidocaine, an anesthetic substance, are used to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

Annually, more than 2 million procedures are performed worldwide involving injection of fillers. Allergic reactions are extremely rare. Immediately after injection, redness, swelling, pain, pruritus, bruising may occur, and may be mild to moderate, and disappear within a few days until one week after the procedure. After the augmentation of the lips, edema may develop, which begins to decrease in intensity after the first 2 days.
